Exotic Cars Choose G Guard PPF Coating

PPF Coating

When you drive a Porsche, a Ferrari, a Lamborghini or a McLaren on Malaysian roads, the paint is not just paint. It is part of what the car is worth. That is the reason so many exotic owners reach for G Guard PPF coating before the car has even covered its first thousand kilometres. Paint protection film, or PPF, is the clear urethane shield that takes the stone chips, the road grit and the daily abuse so the original factory finish underneath stays untouched.

G Guard has been fitting paint protection film in Malaysia since 2008, and since 2015 has been the authorized PPF panel workshop for Porsche Malaysia. That is not a small line. It means the marque that builds some of the most demanding paintwork in the world signed off on G Guard to protect it.

PPF Film Protects Car Paintย

A respray on a mass market sedan is one thing. A respray on an exotic, with its multi stage paint, its body lines and its resale value, is another problem entirely. Once the original factory paint is chipped or sanded back, the car is never quite the same on paper or in the showroom.

Paint protection film solves that at the source. It sits as an invisible layer over the finish and absorbs the damage that would otherwise reach the clear coat: stone chips on the bumper, swirl marks from washing, light scratches, bird droppings and hard water spots. The film takes the hit. The paint stays original. That is why for a high value car, protecting the paint is the single most effective way to safeguard the investment.

The G Guard PPF Coating Options

G Guard offers a clear range of film tiers, so the level of protection can be matched to the car and the budget. Every tier is genuine paint protection film, not a liquid coating, and the thickness is measured in mils.

Finish Tier Thickness Warranty
Invisible Glossy Super 7 7 mils 4 years
Invisible Glossy Pro 8 mils 6 years
Invisible Glossy Armor 10 mils 6 years
Matte Matte 8 mils 6 years
Black Black 8 mils 6 years

The thicker the film, the more impact it can take, which is why Armor at 10 mils is the tier exotic owners tend to choose. One Porsche Cayenne owner who went with the Armor film reported not a single stone chip after months of driving. For owners who want a different look entirely, the Matte and Black finishes change the character of the car while still protecting it.

What Makes The PPF Film Hold Up

G Guard paint protection film is built on a thermoplastic polyurethane, or TPU, base, which is what gives the film its strength and clarity over the long term. A few properties matter most for a daily driven exotic.

The top coat is self healing. Light swirl marks and fine surface scratches in the clear coat layer flow back to level when the film is warmed by the sun or engine heat, so the car keeps looking fresh without constant correction. The clear coat that does this healing is around 13 microns thick, so it handles everyday marks rather than deep gouges that cut past it.

The film also carries a hydrophobic top coat that beads water and makes washing easier, holds an ultra glossy finish that lifts the brightness of the paint, and resists yellowing and staining so it stays clear instead of clouding over time. It is engineered with high elongation for a clean fit around tight body lines, which matters on cars with complex panels.

Trusted by Porsche Malaysia

G Guard runs a precision pattern studio with a library of over 70,000 vehicle templates, so the film is computer cut to each specific model rather than trimmed by hand on the car, which means clean edges and no unnecessary seams. Installation is handled by certified installers with at least 10 years of experience. Across Google and Facebook, G Guard holds 650 and 750 plus reviews at 4.9 and 4.7 stars, many of them from owners of high end and exotic cars.

FAQ

How does G Guard PPF heal itself? The film uses a special polymer in its clear coat that keeps flowing even after curing. When the surface is warmed, the clear coat settles back to its natural level, which lifts out light swirl marks and fine scratches. Damage deep enough to cut through the roughly 13 micron clear coat will not heal.

How long does the film last? With regular washing and care the clear coat can last for many years. The film tiers carry warranties of 4 years on Super 7 and 6 years on Pro, Armor, Matte and Black against manufacturing defects such as blistering and delaminating.

Will my paint discolour when the film is removed? No. The film lets UV pass through, so the paint underneath ages at the same rate as the exposed paint, and a patented adhesive allows clean removal.

PPF or ceramic coating, which one do I need? They do different jobs. PPF is a physical film that takes impacts and chips, while ceramic coating is a liquid layer that adds gloss and water repellency but does not stop stone chips. Many exotic owners run both. How much is PPF in Malaysia? It depends on coverage and film tier, from RM199 for single panel protection up to a full car wrap. The fastest way to get an exact figure for your model is to request a quote.
